Amanda C. Ellis, a former practicing attorney and founder of Amanda Ellis Legal Search, knows very little about sports; however, she knows a lot about networking and marketing and learned early in her career that a basic knowledge of sports is critical for business development and networking – taking clients to sporting events and being able to talk intelligently about the sport being played, chatting about sports to colleagues at cocktail parties and breaking the ice with sports talk when meeting prospective clients or employers.
Josh H. Ellis is a paralegal/future law student, avid sports fan and blogger at Geoausch.Com. Prior to entering the legal field, Josh worked as a Senior Writer/Broadcaster for TexasPrepXtra.com (now known as TheOldCoach.com), a website affiliated with the Rivals.com and devoted to covering Texas high school football. Josh created “Pigskin ‘Mid the Pines,” a segment featuring East Texas football on the Internet broadcast, “The Show.” And, Josh participated in the weekly sports-talk radio show, “Leaving the Yard” on KCMC740-AM in Texarkana.
Amanda and Josh are siblings and, as you can see, complete opposites. CocktailSports combines Josh’s sports knowledge and Amanda’s networking knowledge to provide sports talking points for cocktail chatter. Josh provides the substantive blog posts for CocktailSports while Amanda reviews all posts to ensure professionals with little sports knowledge can comprehend and use the information in the posts. Professionals with little sports knowledge should obtain enough sports knowledge from CocktailSports to engage in meaningful conversations with clients, colleagues and friends.
